The Embroiderers of Dead Letters

Marseille, 1954. Postal clerk Sylvie sorts the mail nobody could deliver and asks nothing of its abandoned lives. Then she finds a locked drawer of envelopes addressed to her, the oldest postmarked before she was born.

Inside each lies a fragment of embroidered cloth. Dates, names, and coordinates emerge in the thread, mapping graves the French authorities would rather leave unrecorded as war gathers across the Mediterranean.

The letters offer Sylvie the origin her family denied her, but claiming it could expose the woman who stitched the evidence and the clerk who found it. To preserve the testimony, Sylvie must decide whether delivery means possession, protection, or letting the truth travel farther.
