The story
What waits inside
Psychometrician Helena finds the impossible buried in ten years of city data: every eighth day, no crimes occur, no children are born, no patients arrive, and no one remembers the absence. She stays awake to meet it.
Zwischenstag is a quiet grey day between Sunday and Monday. The streets are empty. Time feels merciful. Then Helena discovers a house that should not be hers and the family living inside it: an old love, a daughter never born, and another Helena inhabiting every choice she refused.
They cannot see her. Her partner Felix can. Each Monday he sees what the hidden day has taken back out of her.
To keep visiting, Helena must learn whether witnessing an unlived life can be an act of love, or only a beautiful way to vanish from the life that chose her.
True rest is not the absence of demand. It is being seen when you stop.
