Dream Tax

Shared sleep creates a private dreamscape that two people build together. Nights apart deplete it. Gardens wither, rooms collapse, and the inhabitants shaped by both minds begin to fade.

In Marrakech, artist Samira cares for a mother disappearing into Alzheimer’s. In Montréal, her partner Olivier builds the architectural career they once imagined together. Five years of distance have reduced their dream home to one orange tree and phantom children who no longer speak.

Saving the world between them requires sharing a bed again, but neither can return without abandoning a waking life that matters. Soon they must choose what love is allowed to cost when only one reality can remain whole.

Distance collects its tax from the world nobody else can see.
