The story
What waits inside
Emotional intimacy has literal mass. Deep bonds add measurable weight; broken ones can make the world lurch as their gravity releases.
Dr. Ansel Tyne studies relational density without ever having formed a bond strong enough to experience it. Then he meets Mira, a widow whose body still carries more weight than any equation can explain.
Ansel assumes the excess belongs to her dead husband and begins measuring how grief redistributes itself. But each result grows less reliable as he and Mira become close. The contamination in his data may be the very proof he wanted, forcing him to decide whether love can be observed without joining its gravity.
Some measurements change because the observer has entered the field.
