Thousand Doors

In Hoi An, certain doors open onto the present created by one different choice. Visitors may cross, but staying requires both versions of a person to agree to an irreversible exchange.

Tour guide Lan enters the life where she never became a mother at twenty-two. On the other side, she is a photographer in Paris with freedom, acclaim, and a loneliness neither woman expected.

The childless Lan wants to swap. Thirty days separate them from a permanent decision, and Lan’s seventeen-year-old daughter refuses to be treated as the prize in someone else’s regret. Both women must confront the cost hidden inside the life they believed would save them.
